Trees for containers!
Containers can be recycled or repurposed once used, or it would be lovely if you could return them to me at my workshop (Field & Hawken, Unit 9, Gresham Way, Reading. RG30 6AW), or to Greys Court National Trust, any of the Cara stores, The Blue Tin Cafe or Tiny Gallery in Henley. More will be added soon!
I will reuse containers and plant a tree for every container returned - with the help of local tree planting charity, The International Tree Foundation. There is also an option at the checkout to plant more trees - please just pop a tree in your basket if you'd like to!
Hello! Welcome to Cucumber Wood Candles!
I’m Ruth, I created my candle business in 2016 with a bag of soy wax, a couple of pans, 3 bottles of essential oils, a dozen jam jars and hundreds of ideas! My goal was to make candles that were natural, beautiful and smelt divine! I thought that if I didn’t sell a single one, I would at least have a cupboard full of lovely gifts to give to my family and friends for years to come.
As it turned out, my family and friends loved the candles I created, which gave me the confidence to approach local shops. Fast forward a few years and Cucumber Wood candles an diffusers are stocked in over 20 stores, as well as on my on-line shop. I’ve outgrown the kitchen table (it was that or TV dinners for my husband and 3 children for ever more, which admittedly they did love!) and I now make candles every day from my light-filled workshop in Berkshire, still hand-pouring each and every one.
My mission is to make candles that make my customers happy and don’t cost the earth. I use blends of essential oils that will put a spring in your step or bring calm at the end of a busy day. And I still only use 2 ingredients – pure soy wax and essential oils.
Talking of not costing the earth - containers can be re-purposed, recycled or returned to me to be reused, I also reuse packaging wherever possible and there isn’t a carrier bag in site. And they actually don’t cost a fortune, you aren’t paying for fancy boxes and glossy adverts, I like to think they sell themselves.
But see for yourself, try a candle and let me know if you love it as much as my family and friends did when they first found out about my crazy idea to start making candles what seems like an age ago!
I hope you love my candles as much as I enjoy making them.
